MOSCOW, June 21. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko wants to ensure his future by proving that his predecessor Viktor Yanukovich was removed from office illegally, Deputy Speaker of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin said on Sunday.
"I think that Poroshenko paves the way for his own future as Yanukovich’s deprivation of his presidential title was a precedent, absolutely undesirable for Poroshenko," Pushilin was quoted by the Donetsk news agency as saying.
Ukraine’s president realises that "people who will take office afterwards will criticise the current policy in every possible way," he said.
"I’m sure Poroshenko faces a future in disgrace, even in comparison to Yanukovich," DPR deputy speaker said. "As he has not just allowed a rather tense situation in Donbass to become deteriorated into an armed conflict, he has practically drowned the country in blood."
On Saturday Poroshenko sublimed to the Constitutional Court a motion requiring whether the law of February 4, 2015 depriving the former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich of presidential title was in line with the country’s constitution. On June 17 the Voice of Ukraine daily published the law signed by Poroshenko which entered into force the next day.
In his appeal to the Constitutional Court Poroshenko notes that the presidential title is protected by law and is lifetime long unless the president is removed from office following the impeachment procedure.
