SOLEDAR /the Donetsk region/, May 23. /TASS/. A car with Russian officers of the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) came under fire in Donbass, no-one was hurt, a Russian representative at the JCCC told TASS on Saturday.

"At about 17.40 p.m. on May 23 a car of the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) carrying the Russian representative at the JCCC, Colonel General Alexander Lentsov, and two officers of the Russian Armed Forces from his team came under fire opened with automatic small arms in the Donetsk region while they were crossing the line of contact between the parties to the conflict in south-eastern Ukraine through the Gorlovka checkpoint controlled by armed formations of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Mayorsk checkpoint controlled by Ukraine’s Armed Forces," he said adding that no-one was hurt.

The passengers, Russian representatives at the JCCC, and the driver, a Ukrainian serviceman, had a lucky escape, the JCCC representative said noting that an UAZ car was seriously damaged in the attack and failed to move: the front wheel and the radiator had been holed through and the car body had been damaged.

On May 21 to 23 Col Gen Lentsov alongside some officers from the JCCC was in the township of Shyrokino in the Novoazovsk district of the Donetsk region where he ensured control over the ceasefire in one of the ‘hottest’ spot along the line of contact.
