Lukashenko Congratulates Putin on His Birthday

MOSCOW, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on his birthday, the Belarusian leader's press service reported Tuesday.


"You make a big contribution to the development of Belarusian-Russian relations in the spirit of strategic partnership and the enhancement of integration," Lukashenko said, the president's official website reported.


"I am convinced that your efforts will help strengthen friendship between the peoples of Belarus and Russia in the future," Lukashenko added.


On Tuesday, October 7, Russia's president celebrates his 62nd birthday. According to presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the presidential took the day off and flew "over to Siberia, to the Siberian taiga, 300 to 400 kilometers away from the nearest town or village, where he will relax on his birthday."


No official meetings were planned for Russian leader's birthday.
