Car Rams in Packed Bus Stop in Russia’s Far East; 11 Injured

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, December 24 (RIA Novosti) – At least 11 people were injured after a car rammed into a bus stop full of people in Russia’s Far Eastern city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, local Interior Ministry said on Monday.


The incident occurred on early Monday morning, when a Toyota Chaser car swerved of an icy road smashing into a crowd of people waiting for a bus.


The ministry said in a statement that eight people, including a six-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy, were hospitalized, while others received medical treatment at the scene of the accident and were allowed to go home.


“Three of the injured were placed in intensive care wards. They are all in grave condition,” the statement said.


The ministry added that the driver of the car is a 23-year-old military serviceman, who was allegedly drunk at the time of the accident. He has been detained and is questioned by police.
