All Cosmonauts of USSR: Their Photos and Little Stories

2017/04/12

Since we are doing "Cosmonautics Day" today, here is another posting. Here is a set of Soviet postcards showing all Soviet cosmonauts. Each postcard has a photo of a cosmonaut and his small story. Let's see, nice set.

Of course first one is Yuri Gagarin.

Pavel Belyaev. Went to space in 1965 on Vostok-2 rocket, Gagarin was on Vostok-1 in 1961.

Volkov Vladislav. You see those golden star medals they have? Those were called "Hero of USSR" medals. Usually it was a rule that for each flight into space they were awarded one such medal. Volkov died during landing and was awarded "Hero" post mortem.

Petr Klimuk. So we can assume Petr was twice in space, as he has two those golden stars, hower Petr was three times in space. Probably they stopped giving stars if you fly more than two times.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
