The Plesetsk Cosmodrome is becoming an attractive object for tourists. The first group of students has already paid visit to the space port.
The idea of making new tourist routes to the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, as well as to the city of Severodvinsk, the Russian center of nuclear submarine shipbuilding, belongs to the Governor of the Arkhangelsk region, Igor Orlov. The head of the Federal Tourism Agency, Oleg Safonov, supported the governor in the initiative.
As part of the tour, the students saw the Museum of Space Exploration, "Angara" and "Soyuz" space vehicles and learned about the daily life of military men. The students toured the city and visited memorial sites.
"When we eyed Russian tours to replace European ones, we targeted north-western directions. I think that Arkhangelsk has very good tourist future at this point," chairwoman of the regional council of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, Olga Sanayeva told Pravda.Ru.
Noteworthy, the tours to Plesetsk are free - this is a decision of the regional authorities and the cosmodrome administration. One needs to pay only for travel, accommodation, food and additional services.
The governor of the Arkhangelsk region said that the tours to Plesetsk Cosmodrome and to Severodvinsk shipyards should take a worthy place in the system of patriotic education of children and youth.
"Our task is to show young people the defensive power of the state, to form the feeling of pride for their bret nation," said Igor Orlov.
