Russian Foreign Ministry: Difficulties possible in implementing Iranian nuclear deal

2015/10/13

MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. Moscow does not exclude difficulties in implementing the Iranian nuclear deal because of the US and Iranian elections, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Tuesday at a roundtable discussion at the Federation Council upper house of parliament.

"Taking into account the political and negotiating effort that led to the agreements, there is no reason to doubt that the document will be implemented," Ryabkov said. "It is also necessary to note that the plan is not subject to signature or ratification, all agreements in it are political, and only the UN Security Council resolution makes it binding. Certainly, difficulties on the path of the plan implementation, including those caused by the political situation change in some countries cannot be excluded. The factor of the forthcoming elections in the United States and Iran, of course, matters."
