MOSCOW, July 18. /TASS/. A resident of the city of Donetsk has sustained a shrapnel wound when Ukrainian military opened fire on the city in the past hour, the city’s Kievsky district head said on Saturday.

"A civilian was wounded in shelling by Ukraine’s Armed Forces near the Ukraina department store," the Donetsk news agency quoted Ivan Prikhodko as saying. "He was said to be taken to hospital in an ambulance. Nothing is known about the man’s condition."

Earlier, Prikhodko said that on Saturday the Ukrainian military had shelled the city’s Kuibyshevsky district, hitting Hospital 23 with shells.

The Minsk agreements, approved in the Belarussian capital on February 12 by the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France alongside the Contact Group resolving the Ukraine conflict, envisaged a ceasefire between Ukrainian forces and people’s militias starting from February 15, followed by withdrawal of heavy weapons from the line of contact and prisoner release. The self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk have reiterated that the ceasefire holding was wholly dependent on the Ukrainian side.
