BEIJING, July 3. /TASS/. At least three people died and 20 others were injured Friday when a strong earthquake struck the northwest Guma County in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, the Xinhua news agency reported.
The 6.5 magnitude quake occurred at 9.07 a.m. local time (0107GMT) with the focus at the depth of 10 kilometers. Shortly after, a range of aftershocks were registered.
The Guma Country is located 1.8 kilometers (1.1 miles) to the south of the administrative center of Xinjiang, Urumqi, home to 258,000 people.
