MOSCOW, June 29. /TASS/. Foreign ministers of Russia and Syria - Sergey Lavrov and Walid Muallem - will discuss intra-Syrian dialogue and the fight against the Islamic State terrorist group in Moscow on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"Anti-government forces, first of all terrorist groups Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra, have been lately trying to expand the zone of their influence on Syrian territory. The world public perceived with concern the news of seizure by IS detachments of the Syrian city of Palmyra, whose memorials have been put on UNESCO’s World Heritage List," the ministry said.

Russia’s principled position in Syrian affairs is "support of the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, lack of alternatives for solution of the acute internal crisis in that country by politico-diplomatic means," it said.

The Moscow talks’ agenda includes issues of bilateral relations in various spheres and continuation of Russia’s humanitarian assistance to affected Syrian population.

According to UN statistics, fighting between Syrian government troops and militants has killed more than 200,000 people and displaced millions since its start in 2011.

An international peace conference on Syria, dubbed Geneva-2, organized by Russia and the United States and designed to negotiate a solution to the Syrian crisis, held in January and February 2014, brought no particular progress.
