CHISINAU, June 29. /TASS/. Moldova's Party of Socialists will petition against the results of Sunday's runoff mayoral election in the country's capital Chisinau, the party leader, Igor Dodon told TASS. The Socialists' representative Zinaida Greceanii ran in the election versus the incumbent mayor of the city, Dorin Chirtoaca, who was getting more than 53% votes after the processing of 99% ballots.
Greceanii was getting 47%, according to the preliminary information provided by the Central Election Commission.
"We don't recognize the results of this mayoral election and will file a petition against them in the court," Dodon said. "We have evidence of numerous falsifications at polling stations and our lawyers will file protests against them already this morning (Monday). The Liberals drew up these results by using their administrative levers."
He said the Socialists had proofs of an amassed "injection" of dubious ballots at a number of polling stations. Also, he mentioned the situation in some Chisinau suburbs where hundreds of people urgently received residential licenses virtually on the eve of the day of voting.
