Russia launches coins on occasion of hosting SCO, BRICS summits in Ufa

UFA, June 22. /TASS/. Russia’s central bank announced on Monday it has issued commemorative silver coins dedicated to hosting July summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and BRICS in Ufa, in Russia's Volga republic of Bashkiria.

"In a few days, may be already today these coins will appear in several commercial banks. First of all, this concerns Sberbank," the representative of the Bank of Russia’s press service, Andrei Samorodov, told TASS.

The silver coin, "Meeting of Council of heads of SCO member-states in the city of Ufa," is priced at three rubles, has a diameter of 39 mm and depicts Russia’s national emblem, the year of issue and the nominal.

The coin’s reverse design represents the official emblem of the Shanghai Group with the national flags of its member-states in the center and the kurai flower, the official symbol of Bashkiria.

The silver coin, "Meeting of heads of state and governments of BRICS in Ufa," is issued in a similar style. It also has the kurai flower with seven petals and the official logo of Russia’s presidency in BRICS in the center.

The coin has a mint of 1,500 and is recognized as payment across Russia without any exceptions, the press service said.
