Kremlin says Putin has nothing to do with electing Russian football coach

MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has nothing to do with inviting Italian-born Fabio Capello to coach Russia’s national football team, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

"It is absolutely wrong to think and claim that the president has anything to do with inviting and executing contractual obligations with coaches of football teams," Peskov told journalists, adding that those issues were addressed exclusively by the Russian Football Union (RFU) and the Sports Ministry led by Vitaly Mutko.

The spokesman added that candidates for the position of the RFU head were not subject to discussion with Putin.
