Creditors reject Greece's request for moratorium on debts to IMF

BRUSSELS, June 27. /TASS/. Creditors have rejected the Greek government’s request for granting a moratorium on debt repayments to the IMF and for prolonging the aid programme, a well-informed European source told TASS on the sidelines of a conference of the Eurogroup of finance ministers that was about to end in Brussels.

"The creditors refused to extend the repayments of loans beyond June 30," he said. "Besides, the Eurogroup refused to prolong the programme of aid to Greece for the third time in the situation where there was no agreement on reforms."

Overnight to Saturday, the Greek government took a decision to hold a nationwide on whether or not to continue the policy or budgetary austerity. It has been scheduled for July 5.

In addition to this, the Athens asked the IMF and the Eurogroup to defer payments on IMF loans, for the servicing of which the Greek government was expected to pay 1.
