MOSCOW, May 12. /TASS/. Russia’s Prosecutor General office has inspected a number of online retailers selling cheeses, seafoods and meat delicatessen that fall under the sanctions on imports Moscow introduced in retaliation for sweeping Western sanctions against it over the Ukrainian crisis.

The prosecutors have blocked access to the websites of three retailers, Izvestia daily said on Tuesday.

Inspections of another four large e-retailors continue, as they were not found in the cities where they were registered. A case citing administrative violations was opened over one of the companies.

In addition, the prosecutors filed lawsuits with courts, asking them to block another four websites.

The Prosecutor’s Office organized the inspections following a petition by Pavel Sychov, a member of Russia’s Public chamber to Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika, in which he named ten websites, the operations of which might stand at variance with legislation.

"I think the owners of online stores won’t risk anymore after access to these few websites has been blocked," Sychov said.

Russia banned the imports of a range of foodstuffs from the EU and other countries in response to the decision of the EU and the US to blacklist a number of Russian citizens and companies.

Izvestia says this is the first time that access has been blocked to e-stores selling foodstuffs.
