Russian Foreign Ministry denounces Kenya terrorist attack

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned the terrorist attack in Kenya on April 2, which left 147 people dead and dozens wounded.


The attack on the university campus in the city of Garissa was carried out by the Somalia-based Islamist group al-Shabaab, which targeted the university’s students, lecturers and staff members.


"Moscow strongly condemns this bloody inhumane act and expresses solidarity with the government of Kenya in its fight with terrorism," the Russian Foreign Ministry said. "We are convinced that organizers and perpetrators of this heinous crime will suffer severe and condign punishment."


"Russia will continue to actively contribute to international effort to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," the Russian Foreign Ministry said. It offered "deep and sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims" and wished "a speedy recovery to those injured."


There’re no Russian nationals among the victims of the terrorist attack in Garissa, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
