MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. Russia’s National Defense Control Center (NDCC) will monitor the situation at the Vostochny cosmodrome, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Wednesday.
"We are starting to employ the possibilities of the National Defense Control Center for monitoring [the situation] at the cosmodrome. The corresponding proposal was presented to the Russian president and Russian defense minister. Starting next week, we will hear reports of NDCC representatives," Rogozin said.
The official noted that the control over Vostochny spaceport construction will be stepped up in order to ensure Soyuz launch in December.
The first launch of a Soyuz-2 rocket is planned for December 25, but it's at risk. Former head of the federal Center for Operation of Space Ground-Based Infrastructure said the launch site equipment has been delivered to the Voctochny cosmodrome, but the installation cannot be started because the construction work is lagging behind.
The construction of the launch facility at the Vostochny Cosmodrome is 120 days behind schedule, Russian space agency Roscosmos head Igor Komarov said on Wedensday at a videoconference with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
"There were no drastic changes in the pace of construction and installation works. The construction of the launch facility is 120 days behind schedule, of the command post - 60 days behind schedule," Komarov said.
According to Komarov, Russia’s government has approved a proposal of increasing advance payment to 85% for the construction of the Vostochny space center. Igor Komarov reminded that Roscosmos and the federal agency for special construction, Spetstroy, had asked the government to increase the advance payment to 85%.
"The respective decree was adopted on March 14, 2015," Komarov said.
