MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Dialogue has been established between commanders of militias of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Ukrainian army units near the settlement of Shirokino in eastern Ukraine, Ukraine’s representative at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) of the ceasefire regime, General Alexander Rozmaznin, said on Friday.

"Contact between commanders has been established. I think very soon there will be not only contact but also mutual understanding between the parties to the conflict," the Donetsk News Agency quoted him as saying.

Ukraine’s representatives underscored that the JCCC’s efforts had brought about certain results. "It inspires certain optimism that heavy weapons are no longer used," he noted.

Russia’s representative at the JCCC, Colonel General Alexander Lentsov, said he hoped for lasting ceasefire in Shirokino (east of Mariupol). "I hope the contact established between the parties’ commanders will also yield positive results," he stressed.
