MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin appeared at a meeting of the Maritime Collegium on Wednesday to criticize the agency for doing a poor job to implement instructions from the president and prime minister regarding wider production of civilian ships at domestic shipyards.
"The government issues written instructions not for the sake of box-ticking and ostensibly settling the issue on paper. These instructions from the government were described in great detail. They were just to be followed," he said. "We are not asking you to display any initiative. Just do the job right and on time."
Rogozin recalled that the Economic Development Ministry had been appointed to coordinate efforts to create a ship-building cluster in the Far East on the basis of the Zvezda shipyards.
In particular, Rogozin pointed out that there was still no promising line of ships and maritime technologies crucial for the transportation of oil and gas, nor production schedules with year-by-year breakdowns.
"As a result, instead of using the Maritime Collegium’s meeting for in-depth analysis of national shipbuilding industry development scenarios we will have to state that our ministries and agencies have not only displayed any initiative, but are unable to properly act on instructions they get," he said.
