Police in Russia's Far East hunt for amputee man who killed officer

VLADIVOSTOK, March 25. /TASS/. Police in the Russia's Far East are on the hunt for a fleeing amputee drug dealer suspected of killing a police officer in the city of Vladivostok, a spokesperson for the local Investigative Committee said on Wednesday.


"The criminal has not been detained yet," she said.


The search for Vladimir Bespalov, who walks with a prosthetic leg, continued all night long. On Wednesday Bespalov stole a gun from one of two officers transporting him from courtroom to jail. One officer was killed and the other taken to hospital, seriously wounded in the attack.


After the attack, Bespalov broke into the apartment of an elederly woman and stole money and men's clothes he found there, police said.
