Ten Injured in Terrorist Attack in Grozny Admitted to Hospital, Criminal Case Opened

MOSCOW, October 5 (RIA Novosti) - Ten injured in an explosion in the center of Grozny are currently staying in the 9th city hospital in stable condition, Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under two articles.


"We have received ten injured in an explosion in the center of Grozny. Three of them have shrapnel wounds, and the rest - a concussion and light shearing injuries. They are in stable state and their lives are not in danger," an employee of the hospital said.


According to the latest data provided by the hospital, the explosion killed five people, all of them were employees of the Internal Affairs of the city of Grozny.


"The investigative agencies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Chechen Republic have initiated a criminal case on the fact of explosion in Grozny on the grounds of the crimes stipulated by Article 317 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempt on the life of law enforcement officers), and part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code (illegal arms traffic)," the committee stated.


On Saturday evening, a concert was scheduled to celebrate City Day in Grozny. At the entrance to the concert hall, the policemen noticed a suspicious young man. When the policemen decided to inspect him and establish his identity, the man exploded himself.


Earlier, the Interior Ministry Russia's Investigative Committee has stated that the alleged perpetrator of the attack was the 19-year-old local Opti Mudarov.
