Russia, India Complete Joint Military Drills Indra-2014: Southern Military District

MOSCOW, October 3 (RIA Novosti) - Joint Russian-Indian military drills Indra-2014 have been completed in Russia's Volgograd Region on Thursday, the Russian Southern Military District's press service said Friday.

The Indra-2014 Russian-Indian tactical drills began on September 23 and ended on October 2. The two countries' militaries were practicing joint defense of strategic government facilities and combating illegal armed groups, among other things.

In course of the drills the troops also had to strike about 300 targets, 100 of which were mobile. In addition, the participants had to destroy simulated bandit groups in a wooded area, work out tactics in rear areas and set up ambushes and observation posts.

Earlier in July, Russia and India conducted naval exercise Indra-2014 in the Sea of Japan. Russian-Indian joint air force drills Avia Indra-2014 took place in late August and early September.
