BRUSSELS, October 21 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine’s national oil and gas company Naftogaz is ready to pay off $3.1 billion of its gas debt to Russia in two branches before year’s end, EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger said Tuesday.
“Before the end of October, Naftogas has to pay $1.45 billion,” Oettinger told reporters following trilateral gas talks in Brussels between Russia, Ukraine and the European Union.
“Naftogaz has also stated its readiness to pay the second tranche, amounting to $1.65 billion, before the end of the year. In total, we arrive at the figure of $3.1 billion,” he added.
