LOS ANGELES, June 25 (RIA Novosti) - Russian movie distributor and cinema chain Luxor has picked up “Black Rose,” the upcoming star vehicle for Russian bodybuilder turned California-based action hero Alexander Nevsky, Screen Daily reports.

Directed by Sheldon Lettich, whose credits include the screenplays for “Rambo 3” and the largely forgotten 1987 film “Russkies,” “Black Rose” stars Nevsky as a Moscow police major who travels to Los Angeles to help local law enforcement solve a series of murders in the Russian immigrant community.

Nevsky, a graduate of the legendary Lee Strasburg Theatre and Film Institute, prefers heroic roles, and turned down parts in the Jean-Claude Van Damme movie “The Order” and also the syndicated US television show “BattleDome.”

In addition to Nevsky, “Black Rose” stars “Terminator 3” actress Kristanna Loken and world champion ballroom dancer Oksana Sidorenko. The movie is currently being shot in Moscow, when filming wraps on July 7, production will move to Los Angeles.
