MOSCOW, October 5 (RIA Novosti) - The captain of Chinese ship NA NA 2 said that those on board were out of danger, as the crew had restored the ship's balance, the Russian Emergencies Ministry in the Sakhalin Region said in a statement Sunday.

"Information from the captain of the NA NA 2 ship has been received saying that nothing threatens the life and well-being of those on board, as the crew have balanced the ship," the statement said

A Mi-8 helicopter has carried out a flight over the area in order to confirm the information from the captain. The rescue operation has been terminated.

Earlier on Sunday, the ministry's Crisis Management Center received information about the SOS signal from NA NA 2, en route from South Korea to the port of Moscalvo in the Okhinsky District.

According to the statement, NA NA 2's engine shut down and strong winds caused the ship to drift toward the shore but the crew, comprising 15 Chinese nationals, managed to anchor the vessel.
