ZHUKOVSKY, MOSCOW REGION, August 14 (RIA Novosti) – Russia’s United Instrument Corporation (UIC) is ready to produce laser simulators for the Mulino combat training facility, if needed, the company’s representative told RIA Novosti Thursday.
“We are ready to produce the simulators, if we have an order from the Defense Ministry. We have proper production capacities and specialists for this,” the source said.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported that the inter-branch military training center in Mulino will become the main high-tech education and training facility for Western Military District troops. Construction is to be completed before the end of 2014.
UIC is a part of Rostec State Corporation, which brings together more than 660 entities in the civil and defense high-tech industrial sector.
August 4, the German government has revoked permission for the Rheinmetall arms manufacturer to participate in the construction of a combat training center near the small Russian settlement of Mulino. The $134 million deal was put on hold in light of a new wave of Western economic sanctions imposed on Russia over the situation in Ukraine. Among other equipment, Rheinmetall had provided laser simulators for the facility.
