Maybe most of the people know Moscow’s Red Square and Red Kremlin building – the center point of Russian power and authority. However it was not having its reddish hue in nineteen century. Since eighteen century Moscow Kremlin was painted… white. Deliberately painted white and renewed its white coloring every few years. Sixty seven years ago Stalin ordered to paint the Kremlin into the red color.
Napoleon army which once stormed Moscow and occupied Kremlin saw it being white. Well not really white, as the Moscow was burned down before Napoleon entered it, so the Kremlin was covered with smoke stains.
Later when Napoleon was drove away out of Russian capital the Kremlin was restored in its white hue again.
Here we have a collection of historical photos, paintings and modern three dimensional reconstructions of how did the Moscow Kremlin looked like in its whitish color.
