Russian Man Faces Up to 4 Years in Jail for Buying Spy Gadget

ROSTOV-ON-DON, October 2 (RIA Novosti) – A man in southern Russia has been arrested for ordering a pen with a hidden built-in video camera over the Internet, local prosecutors said Wednesday.


Prosecutors said in a statement that the suspect was detained at a local post office in the Rostov region while collecting the device.


Spy gadgets, including eavesdropping and surveillance devices concealed in various objects, are banned in Russia.


Under Russian law, the suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, could face up to four years in jail if convicted.
