MOSCOW, April 21 (RIA Novosti) – Three unidentified men have taken four people hostage in a bank in southern Russia, a source in the regional police force told RIA Novosti Monday.

“According to preliminary information, there are three attackers and four hostages,” the source said, adding that the criminals were demanding 25 million rubles (around $700,000).

At least one attacker is armed with a Saiga rifle.

The Zapadny Bank branch under attack is located just 25 miles (40 kilometers) north of Ukraine.

On Monday, the Central Bank of Russia announced the revocation of the license of the Zapadny Bank over the unreliability of its accounts and records.

The bank was founded in 1993 and currently has 65 branches across Russia and about 370,000 clients.
