Russian Park of Amur Tigers

2014/02/10

An ill and exhausted wild tiger has recently been brought from the Amur region of Russia to the safari park of Primorye where local vets will take care of the animal. Ecologists hope that it will recover soon and become a potential partner for a tigress Taiga that is living in the park as well.

The adult tiger was found in a poor condition, with life-threatening injuries. It had been crawling from people only on his front limbs, the rear ones were motionless. It was decided to send it to the Primorye region whose vets have more experience to cure tigers.

On the picture above is Taiga, a tigress from the park, 1 year 10 months old.

Tiger named Amur, 1 year 10 months old. It is brother of Taiga.

The relatives are kept separately to avoid closebreeding.

They will be considered adult tigers when they turn four years old.

In captivity they may start to breed earlier though.

If Amur tigers will disappear one day in the Far Eastern taiga, these ones will be used to bring the species back to the nature.
