MOSCOW, January 9 (RIA Novosti) – Modern Russia’s best known and arguably most attractive spy, Anna Chapman, has entered the fashion business, presenting a line of casual clothes Thursday at a show in the Turkish resort of Antalya.
“She really wanted to make clothes that you could wear anywhere, from a big city to a backwater village,” said a spokesman for Fondservisbank, her main employer.
The 31-year-old redhead does not design the clothes herself, but hires young designers from Russian fashion colleges, the spokesman told RIA Novosti.
He added that Chapman would not give up her day job as an advisor at the small bank, whose name is, incidentally, abbreviated in Russian to FSB – the same as the Federal Security Service, a successor to the KGB.
Chapman, the daughter of an alleged KGB officer, was busted in the United States in 2010 on accusations of spying for Russia.
She was deported in a prisoner swap along with nine other alleged sleeper agents.
Since her return to Russia, Chapman has dabbled in politics, hosted a TV show about the “mysteries of the world” and starred in risqué photoshoots for men’s magazines.
She was previously reported to be interested in designing new uniforms for Russian cosmonauts, though the project failed to materialize.
Chapman made headlines most recently in July with an apparently tongue-in-cheek proposal to marry US whistleblower Edward Snowden, who was at the time stranded in a Moscow airport.
Although Snowden was subsequently granted asylum in Russia, no further romantic developments between the two have been reported.
