MOSCOW, December 20 (RIA Novosti) – A 36-year-old Russian man from the Urals city of Nizhniy Tagil faces up to 10 years in prison for possession of narcotics after he was detained for dancing aboard a train, transport police said on Friday.
“He ran around screaming 'Tagil!' while singing loudly, danced the lambada on a train seat and even managed to waltz with a female passenger,” Siberian police said in a statement.
Conductors on the train summoned police when the man, who had been acting oddly since boarding, refused to leave the train after it arrived at its final stop in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk.
He was taken to a police station where officers found he was carrying 0.3 grams of a synthetic drug that mimics the effects of marijuana.
The man, who had a seance with a psychic during the investigation, said that he had never used drugs before and had accidentally stumbled across the bag.
“He was full of remorse and very ashamed of his conduct,” the police said. “Nevertheless, he faces up to ten years in prison for drug possession.”
