KRASNODAR, December 5 (RAPSI) – Prosecutors in southern Russia have opened a criminal case over a street fight involving Swiss fans of the FC St. Gallen football team, the local prosecutor's office have said.

A fight involving some 15 people broke out early on the morning of November 29 on the main street of Krasnodar, a local law enforcement source told RIA Novosti. Seven offenders were arrested, nearly all of them drunk.

The day before the incident, FC Kuban defeated FC St. Gallen 4-0 in a domestic Group A match in the UEFA Europa League.

The night after the match, unidentified individuals “used a minor excuse to cause physical harm to three St. Gallen fans,” the prosecutor's office said.

Physical assault is punishable in Russia by up to two years in prison. The defendants have not been identified.
