BERLIN, December 21 (RIA Novosti) – Former oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who has flown to Germany after being released from prison on a presidential pardon, has met with members of his family in Berlin, his eldest son said Saturday.

“My family is finally united and we are very, very happy to be together,” Pavel Khodorkovsky told reporters outside the legendary five-star Adlon Hotel, located directly opposite the Brandenburg Gate.

Khodorkovsky's parents, Marina and Boris, reportedly arrived to the German capital earlier in the day.

Pavel Khodorkovsky confirmed that his father would hold a news conference on Sunday at the Berlin Wall Museum, where Russia’s former richest man is expected to outline his future plans.

Mikhail Khodorkovsky, 50, was freed by a presidential pardon Friday after serving more than a decade in prison following his arrest on a Siberian runway in 2003 and two subsequent convictions for fraud, tax evasion and embezzlement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters on Thursday that he decided to sign the pardon after receiving a request for clemency from Khodorkovsky, who cited the deteriorating health of his cancer-stricken mother.
