NATO ‘Satisfied’ With Russian Transit Hub Deal – Official

2013/09/06

MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) – NATO is “satisfied” with an agreement to use a transit hub in Russia's Ulyanovsk to help in NATO’s pullout from Afghanistan, a spokesman said at a press conference on Friday.

“Nothing has changed for NATO, we are very satisfied with this agreement,” said Robert Pszczel, director of the NATO information office in Moscow, dismissing media reports that the transit hub, which opened more than a year ago, was “costly.”

Pszczel said the agreement on the route had been approved by all of the NATO-Russia Council members. “Late last year we tested this route and now we hope it will be used,” he said.
