MOSCOW, April 24 (RIA Novosti) – More than 100 people left Syria on Wednesday aboard an airplane provided by the Russian Emergencies Ministry, a ministry spokeswoman said.
The plane left Syria for Moscow carrying a total of 104 people: 76 Russians, 21 Ukrainians, six Belarusians and one Uzbek national, spokeswoman Irina Rossius said.
There were 45 women, 37 children and 22 men on board, she added.
Between January and March, 279 Russians and citizens of former Soviet republics fled war-torn Syria on Emergencies Ministry planes.
About 70,000 people have died in Syria since the start of the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad in March 2011, according to UN estimates.
