The Huge Fertilizer Plant That Does Not Function Today

2012/12/25

This plant “Kormofos” occupies the huge territory of sixty hectares. It’s located not far from the city of Voskresensk, Russia. Today it does not function anymore. But it’s hard to call the place abandoned, because it almost has not been touched by looters and is still patrolled by the security. One day is not enough to see even half of all the territory…

It takes about an hour and a half to get from Moscow to Voskresensk.

It seemed people would come to work soon as usual…

These are the counterweights: the whole construction is swaying a bit.

The territory of the plant is one kilometer long and 600 meters wide. It has a lot of shops, warehouses, domestic premises and even a railway.

One of the substations is still working so there is electricity in some areas.

All the structures are in a satisfactory condition, it seems that repair can revive the plant.

Many people worked at the plant.

But let us say some words about the plant itself: phosphate feed additives were made there. The territory consists of four huge shops and numerous support structures.

It’s the conveyor for products delivery to another stage of production.

These are gas burners.

It reads “Automation security settings”.

The tubes inside are made from bricks (!). As if it is some drainage collector of the early 20th century.

It seems that people left not earlier than yesterday.

Almost all glasses are solid.

It is the next shop.

Then we go up.

In general there are about ten storeys here.

It’s a bit scary to walk up and down the metal stairs in the dark…

And this is industrial Voskresensk where we will return once again.
