Russian Hooligan Breaks Metal Courtroom Cage

2012/12/12

MOSCOW, December 12 (RIA Novosti) – Proving that some people may have troublemaking in their blood, a man in Russia broke a metal cage in the courtroom just as he was being sentenced for hooliganism.

The man was put into the cage after he flew into a fit of rage in the courtroom, verbally abusing the magistrate and his subordinates, Nizhny Novgorod Region bailiffs said on Wednesday.

Once inside, the man started swinging on the bars, mimicking a monkey, the bailiffs said on their website.

But the wall eventually gave way, so that the cage came down with a piece of the wall still attached to it, the report said.

Court bailiffs detained the unwitting escapee and handed him over to police, but not before sustaining another round of brutal verbal abuse.

The troublemaker, whose name was withheld, must now wait for a new court hearing, with insulting an official on duty and contempt of court added to the charge sheet, the report said. He faces up to two years of correctional labor and a fine of 200,000 rubles ($6,500).
