MOSCOW, December 21 (RIA Novosti) – Police in Moscow are searching for thieves who are believed to have robbed a woman by hypnotizing her into handing over a large sum of cash.

The victim said two women approached her just after she withdrew 1.2 million rubles ($40,000) from her account in a bank in east Moscow.

She claimed the thieves hypnotized her into giving them the money so they could help her break a spell that had been put on her husband and son.

The thieves face up to 10 years in jail if convicted.

Earlier this month, police in Moscow detained a woman who took 2.3 million rubles ($75,000) in cash and jewelry from a 29-year-old Russian woman.

The victim claims she was hypnotized after the thief showed her a trick with an egg, Komsomolskaya Pravda daily reported.
