Russian Opposition Plans to Hold Freedom March on December 15

2012/11/24

MOSCOW, November 24 (RIA Novosti) – Members of the Opposition Coordination Council have announced their decision to hold a new protest action, the Freedom March, in Moscow on December 15.

The new opposition demonstration will mark the anniversary of a protest movement in Russia, which erupted after last December’s parliamentary elections marred by allegations of electoral fraud across the country.

Sergei Udaltsov, coordinator of the Left Front movement, said the organizers will submit an application to the mayor’s office for a permission to march by the end of next week.

The march will be held under the slogans “Freedom to Political Prisoners!”, “Down with the dictator!” and “Early Election!”

Udaltsov said the march will be prepared by the headquarters comprising the members of the Opposition Coordination Council. Anti-corruption blogger Alexei Navalny has been elected as the head of a working group.
