Mammoth remains have been found recently not far from Seyakha village, in Pechevalavato Lake on Yamal peninsular. It finding was accidental. The bones were found by local villagers. Later archaeologists came to the place to study the fragments with soft tissues. The catch was huge – part of the skull, the lower jaw, about ten rib bones, phalanges, the thigh bone and the foot with preserved tendon. Scientists believe the finding to be the skeleton of an adult animal. Now they need special equipment to find all the rest.
