How the Airplane That Spent 72 Years on Lake Bottom Looks Like

2017/08/03

Last month Russian Navy divers lifted an American Bell P-39 Airacobra plane from the bottom of the lake on Kola Peninsula, Russia. This is how it looks like.

It was staying 45 meter deep on the lake bottom.

They used automotive crane to lift it from there, then moved it to Russian Air Force museum.

It’s known than March 6, 1945, two month before war ended, Russian pilot junior leutenant Fyodor Varavikov crashed.

However there were no human remains found in the plane.

Will they try to restore the plane? No. They will use it for parts. They have another similar plane being restored in museum and they are in need of parts.
