There is a time in the year when many Russian houses loose their hot water. This time of the year is usually the beginning of the Summer. Why is this so? It traces back to Soviet planned economics. Mostly all houses in Soviet Russia were connected to central heating system, in every city. Every year a planned maintenance had to be made to this central heating systems, and most houses were left without warm water for at least a month.
Nowadays it's still practiced widely all over Russia and millions of people stay without warm water each summer. So here what's being done to get some warm water.
Hand boilers are the thing. If you get enough of them you can heat any volume of the water, including a bath tube full.
