Hundredth Land Cruiser in stock. It sinks into the newly thawed permafrost and swamp. Suitable for small trips within the village and in places where there are dirty roads. In winter, people try not to turn them off, and leave them turned on for night, or diesel couldn’t be started without heating.

MYSTERY of ABANDONED VILLAGE IN THE MIDLE OF THE ARCTIC OCEAN

2016/12/28

The famous Chernobyl ghost town merges every year more and more with the surrounding terrain. Nature relentlessly recaptures it meter by meter. But over the Soviet mining town of Pyramid, located on the Arctic Shpicbergen archipelago, time has no power. People left it almost 20 years ago. Cold preserves traces from vegetation.

1 The settlement was built in 1910 by the Swedes who have received permission for coal mining on the archipelago. It got its name from the nearest mountain. 17 years later, the mine was bought by "Arcticugol" trust, and the village became Soviet. 1300 kilometers from the North Pole were built houses, a school, theater, library, cultural center, two cemeteries (one for men and one for cats) and sports complex with the most northerly in the world heated swimming pool.

Across the network:

Until the collapse of the USSR more than a thousand people lived in the Pyramid. In the 90 there was no money for the maintenance of the village above the Arctic Circle. Last miners returned to the continent in March 1998.

This place has got its mystery. Ream with kitchen plates, linens, typewriters, musical instruments and even expensive miner equipment – people could take these things with them and subsequently sell. However, all these things are on their place. As if the workers hurriedly left the Pyramid.

Moscow Decorated for Christmas and New Year

2016/12/23

00s

Moscow is finally decorated for the New Year. I can say that it is really cool this year! I do not remember at least one city in the world that would have been so stylish and decorated for the holiday. Comparing with the last year it has become more modern and more laconic. Previously, many of the streets were literally inundated with various light installations, and it was too much, and even these ridiculous houses, which didn’t always stylistically suited to the overall design. In this year Moscow is gorgeous! Almost nothing to complain about! Yesterday I walked for three hours and had a great time!

As in the past, the main idea of the design was to make a lot of light steel arches with patterns. Here is the arch in the beginning of the Kamergersky.

Now here such garlands on the new lamps on Tverskaya street.

A lot of people are walking along the Tverskaya street.

Experienced tractor MAZ / KZKT-545

In the late 60-ies there was a necessecity in creation of prospective wheeled tractor for replacement of morally old tractor MAZ-537, which was done due to strict requirements to the characteristics of tractors, in particular to the capacity and security of cabins from USSR Ministry of Defense

Across the network:

As part of this task realization, wheeled tractor MAZ-545 was created in DDB-1 of Minsk Automobile Plant in the late 60-ies. Designers from Minsk have created two basic modifications - truck tractor MAZ-545 and ballast tractor MAZ-545a.  Both versions of the truck were made in 1969-1970-th on Wheel Tractor Plant in Kurgan (KZKT).

Both trucks were made on the basis of MAZ-537, but got a new original 4-door 8-seat cabin (however, the new cabin was a lengthened cabin from 537-th). But the main difference of new tractors was the use of the new engine - V-shaped diesel engine B-38, B-2 family.

How Do they Build Wooden Ships in Karelia

2016/12/19

One of the most interesting places in Petrozavodsk - club "Polar Odyssey". A team of true romanticists, who are in love with the sea work here.
