Russia urges OSCE to help ensure freedom of Russian media activities in Moldova

2015/10/08

MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. Russia expects the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to take steps to ensure freedom of work of Russian media in Moldova, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Special Representative for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law Konstantin Dolgov wrote in his Twitter microblog on Thursday.

"The far-fetched obstacles to the work of the Russian media in Moldova contravene the international obligations of this country," he noted. "We hope effective steps will be taken by the relevant international organizations, including the OSCE, to rectify the situation with the freedom of the activities of the Russian media in Moldova."

The Moldovan authorities earlier denied entry to the country to two reporters of the Rossiya 24 TV channel who were to cover the forthcoming 2016 European Football Cup qualifier.
