Nizhny Novgorod region to spend 32 billion rubles on education in 2016

2015/10/23

More than 32 billion rubles will be spent on education in the Nizhny Novgorod region in the coming year. The amount is five percent larger than was allocated for the purpose in 2015.

"The most important thing is that we do not stop the development, and the social orientation has been preserved," Nizhny Novgorod region Governor Valery Shantsev said.

As much as 76.5 million rubles will be allocated for the implementation of priority national projects. They include organization of distance education for disabled children, state support for exemplary  schools, kindergartens and institutions of additional education, training programs for workers and specialists for high-tech industries on the bases of professional educational institutions, encouragements for outstanding teachers.

More than 219 million rubles will be used for activities related to sub-programs of the Ministry for Education, including the organization of regional and All-Russian Olympiads for students, recreation and health activities for children and young people, including children in difficult life situations, as well as military, sports and applied military activities for young people of draft age.

The support for small schools will continue as well. There are 213 such schools in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The list of educational institutions, the financing of which is carried out under a separate form, regardless of the number of students, is approved by the governor. Regional authorities do not intend to abandon this practice in the region, even though maintaining such schools is three times as expensive in comparison with secondary schools. The quality of education is a priority.
