Lavrov: Russian leaders expected to have more contacts with Middle East representatives

2015/10/12

MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. Russian leaders are expected to have more contacts with representatives of the Middle East and North Africa states, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday.

"Yesterday, the Russian president met with top officials from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. He has had contacts with the Turkish president and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas," Lavrov said. "More meetings with [officials of] the countries of the region are expected."

According to Russian Foreign Minister, Russian counterparts in the Middle East and the US now understand Russia’s logic better and listen to the reasons.

"As yet, we still cannot see the situation 100% similarly with our counterparts in the region, with the US, but there is a movement forward, our logic is understandable, they appreciate we are ready to mind concerns of our counterparts," he said.
