Adviser: Putin to touch upon climate change problem in his UN speech

MOSCOW, September 26. /TASS/. The climate change problem will become one of the topics of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech at the session of the UN General Assembly on September 28, Alexander Bedritsky, an adviser to the head of state and his representative on climate issues, told TASS.

"Our president’s speech will have a great section devoted to issues of fighting climate change. Although, of course, all problems the international community and Russia face do not boil down to this, and naturally not the entire speech will be dedicated to that," Bedritsky said.

He said Putin had repeatedly spoken on the issue, "and this line is confirmed not only by words but by deeds as well." In particular, Bedritsky recalled specific decisions of the head of state that define the parameters of greenhouse gas emissions in Russia for 2020.
