Russia's Ishchenko wins 19th synchronized swimming gold at world championships

KAZAN, July 30. /TASS/. Russian synchronized swimmers Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina won gold on Thursday in the women’s duet free at the 2015 FINA World Championships, scoring 98.2000.

Silver went to Chinese Huang Xuechen and Sun Wenyan, who scored 95.9000 points, while the Ukrainian duet of Lolita Ananasova and Anna Voloshyna got a bronze medal (93.6000).

This was Natalia Ishchenko’s record 19th synchronized swimming gold medal at the world championship, and 18th for Romashina.

At the moment, the Chinese national team is leading with 14 medals (six gold, five silver and five bronze medals), while Russia is second with eight medals (5-2-1).

The 2015 FINA (the International Swimming Federation) World Championships is underway in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, between July 24 and August 9 bringing together some 2,400 athletes from over 190 countries.
