MOSCOW, July 17. /TASS/. The Ukrainian forces have shelled the Kievsky district in Donetsk from mortars, injuring one civilian, the city administration said on Friday.
"On July 16 in the evening, a woman sustained a shrapnel injury as a result of mortar shell explosion in the Kievsky district [in Donetsk]," the city administration said, adding that the Kiev forces also shelled a school in the Kievsky district and several areas in the town of Yasinovataya on Thursday evening.
The self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) militia said that the Ukrainian forces violated ceasefire regime twice over the past 24 hours. "On July 16, between 4pm and 4:45 pm, the Donetsky settlement was shelled from Novotoshkovka from mortarts of 120mm caliber. Between 11pm and 11:20 pm, the Kiev forces shelled the Zhelobok settlement also from Novotoshkovka from BMP-2 [second-generation infantry fighting vehicle], mortars of 82mm caliber and AGS automatic grenade launcher," Lugansk Inform Center quoted a people’s militia spokesperson as saying.
Minsk agreements on Ukraine
Ceasefire is envisaged by the Minsk agreements on Ukraine. The Minsk accords were signed on February 12, after negotiations in the so-called "Normandy format" in the Belarusian capital Minsk, bringing together Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. The talks lasted for around 14 hours. Simultaneously, a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukrainian settlement was held in Minsk.
The Minsk also envisage heavy weaponry withdrawal, prisoner exchange, local elections in Donbass, constitutional reform in Ukraine and establishing working sub-groups on security, political, economy and humanitarian components of the Minsk accords.
The Ukrainian forces and the self-defense forces of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics have repeatedly accused each other of violating ceasefire and other points of the Minsk agreements.
